About
Troy
Hi, I’m Troy! Across my experience as a social worker, I’ve treated a variety of clients representing a wide range of identities and lived experiences. I have supported people with specific concerns through stages of life, history of complex trauma, anxiety, depression, and relationship challenges. Additionally, I have specific focus on treating substance use disorders, ADHD with skill building, and navigating complex systems. I value the opportunity to provide new perspectives to clients and to “get unstuck.” My approach is highly collaborative and receptive to my clients’ preferences and needs.
I often utilize positive reframing to empower clients to be their own change-makers and to find independence and reconnection. I am motivated by the potential for each client to reduce challenging mental health symptoms, improve healthy behavioral changes, and apply their learning for long-term, sustainable impact. I believe in encouragement and strengths rather than deficits and weaknesses, and I incorporate mindfulness and somatic work into my practice.
In my free time, I love quality time with friends and family, physical activities like ice hockey and working out, playing video games, traveling to new places, and eating at new restaurants. I currently live in Virginia, but I recently moved from California where I spent my whole life. I have a passion for learning new things, reading, and being connected to my community through work attendance at local events and work with unhoused and other vulnerable populations.
