About
Sonya
My passion for this work comes from a simple belief: you already have the strength to change your life, but you might just need the right tools and a supportive push to get started. I do not see myself as an all-knowing expert who is here to "fix" you. Instead, I view us as a team. My job is to help you understand how your thoughts, feelings, and actions are connected, and to give you practical strategies so you can become your own best advocate and healer. My therapeutic style is warm, direct, and highly collaborative. I specialize in evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Common Elements Treatment Approach (CETA). In plain English, this means we will focus on the present moment, identify patterns that are keeping you stuck, and practice proven techniques to break those cycles. I am not the kind of therapist who will just nod and say, "How does that make you feel?" for an hour. I am active in our sessions, and I will gently but firmly challenge you to step out of your comfort zone and strive for your absolute best.Real, lasting change does not happen in just one hour a week. Because of that, I place a heavy emphasis on the work you do outside of our sessions. You can think of therapy as the practice field and your daily life as the actual game. I will regularly assign you small, practical action steps, exercises, or reflections to try out between our meetings. If you are ready to roll up your sleeves, challenge yourself, and actively build a life you love, I am fully committed to walking that path alongside you.
Hello! I am a proud grandmother who treasures every moment spent with my family and close friends. Family means everything to me, and as a member of the LGBTQ+ community—with loved ones who are also part of the community—creating an inclusive, loving, and supportive environment is at the heart of who I am.When I am not spending quality time with my inner circle, you can usually find me embracing the great outdoors or getting creative. I absolutely love going camping, spending sunny days out on the lake, swimming, and hosting backyard BBQs with the people I love. On the quieter side, I really enjoy crafting and settling in for peaceful, relaxing nights at home. I look forward to connecting with you!
