About
Sarah
Hello! I am Sarah. I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with over 20 years of experience in the field of mental health. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Central Arkansas in 1999, followed by a Master of Education in Human Development Counseling from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, in 2003. Specializing in substance abuse treatment and severe mental illness, I spent many years assisting in research at the Psychiatric Research Institute at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. During that time, I contributed to five FDA clinical trials examining manualized Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and parent training interventions for marijuana use in children and adolescents, along with several clinical studies focused on pharmacological treatments for substance dependence and withdrawal. My professional background includes inpatient psychiatric care, residential substance abuse treatment, private practice, and work within nonprofit and government organizations. In my clinical work, I primarily integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused approaches to address anxiety, depression, grief, parenting challenges, and women’s issues. I take a person-centered, holistic approach that reflects my own life experiences and the mental health knowledge i've gained over the years. I am a Christian and have a Christ-centered worldview, I believe that every problem has a solution and I strive to help my clients discover joy, resilience, and peace amid life’s challenges.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my 2 teenage children, my husband of 20 years and my wonderful friends. I love to travel, cook healthy meals at home and play pickleball when time allows. I am actively involved in my church and love volunteering with the youth and the administrative teams.
