About
Nerice
I enjoy working with motivated clients using a positive, solution oriented approach. Using a variety of modalities, including family systems, cognitive behavioral as well as somatic . My goal is to help clients process and move forward from "stuck" places in a loving yet challenging way. I have worked extensively with clients dealing with life transitions, loss, anxiety and depression especially within the context of relationships and professional challenges. My family background includes Philippine,Spanish and Scots-Irish and I have been a part of both African American and Asian communities.I have special experience in working with clients in recovery from substance use. Since I am an older therapist I particularly enjoy supporting clients dealing with the transitions involved in growing older. If requested I can use my special training in the area of practical theology to support people in developing a more robust sense of self within a spiritual context. My style is warm and friendly and meet you with what Carl Rogers called "unconditional positive regard".
In my spare time I volunteer at a rescue horse ranch and am a hospice volunteer. I also remain active in 12 step groups and have a significant number of years clean and sober. My husband and I live in a San Diego beach city although I was born and raised in San Francisco and Carmel, and am still a northern Californian at heart! Last but not least we are huge sports fans, especially football and baseball.
