About
Jennifer
Hi, I am Jennifer. I enjoy working with clients to help them to understand themselves, their relationships with others and how to live their best life possible. I focus on building a client's skills and resources to manage their challenges. I'm collaborative and respect the knowledge and experience clients bring to the counseling relationship. I will, if appropriate for you, utilize nature based approaches to increase awareness of thoughts, feelings, behavior patterns, and core beliefs. I like to help clients increase awareness of who they are/are not so they can live life in alignment with their beliefs, values and priorities. Building your toolbox to manage the challenges that come with growth and life is the goal and it is my passion to help you discover full connection in your life. Due to both my physical health training and my counseling training, I embrace the importance of a holistic approach to health and recovery. I want to help you to connect with you, those around you, and our natural world.
When not working with folks I enjoy spending time outside hiking, walking, gardening, and connecting with others and mother nature. I guide mindful kayaking trips for a nature-based health and wellness center and I love to explore and travel to connect with my environment. I live with my spouse, two dogs, cat, and colorful fish in my backyard pond. I am an aspiring woodworker and love working with my hands building things or in my garden. I was a university professor for 20 years and love to learn through people's stories and their experiences. As a mentor and educator I have worked with the disability community. As a minister's kid I grew up in the Christian tradition with an appreciation and interest in multiple religious traditions. Now I find my connection with the divine in my connection with the natural world. I approach life with open ears, an open heart and a humble willingness to learn.
