About
James
I believe therapy works best when you feel safe, understood, and able to be yourself. My goal is to create a space where you can talk openly about what is happening in your life without fear of judgment. I work collaboratively with clients to better understand patterns that may no longer be serving them, develop healthier ways of coping with stress and difficult emotions, and reconnect with the values that give their lives meaning. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, life transitions, trauma, or recovery, I strive to provide practical support while helping you build greater self-awareness, confidence, and self-acceptance. Clients often describe my style as direct, compassionate, grounded, and conversational. I believe therapy should be both supportive and honest. My role is not only to listen, but also to help you identify patterns, challenge barriers, and move toward the life you want to build.
Outside of therapy, I enjoy spending time with my significant other and four adult children, friends, and our pets. I value connection, laughter, meaningful conversations, and staying active. You’ll often find me exercising, spending time outdoors, traveling, or simply enjoying quiet moments with the people I care about. As a Black clinician with a multiracial family, member of the LGBTQIA+ community, and someone in long-term recovery, I understand that our experiences, identities, and life stories shape how we move through the world. While everyone’s journey is different, I strive to create a welcoming environment where clients feel respected, seen, and supported. I believe growth is a lifelong process, and I try to approach both life and therapy with curiosity, humility, humor, and compassion
