After you apply, we review your qualifications. If you're a match, you'll have a 45 min phone interview with a Clinical Recruiter, then a 45 min video interview with a Clinical Manager. The full process usually takes about two weeks.

It starts with a recruiter screen, then interviews with the hiring manager and cross-functional partners. Depending on the role's level, you may also complete a project or additional executive interviews.

Yes. Two Chairs thoughtfully incorporates AI tools to support clinicians and streamline administrative work. You can use an optional AI note-taking tool to help with documentation, but only with client consent. It's voluntary, never replaces your clinical judgment, and every tool we use is vetted to protect client privacy. On the HQ side, our teams are already building and streamlining their work with AI tools as well.

We use a Job Architecture and Competency Framework built around three areas: Leading Self, Leading Others, and Leading Results. You'll get ongoing, transparent feedback, and we prioritize internal promotions before hiring externally. Growth is also supported through an annual "Raise the Bar" performance review and a mid-year check-in.

We believe that supporting your growth makes you a better therapist. Two Chairs offers clinical community support for all clinicians, including 1:1 time with management, optional Specialty Consult Groups, curated DEIB training, up to 6 annual CE units of APA-accredited education, plus free PsychHub membership. We support cross-licensing in expansion states (based on business need) and everyone has access to our Clinician Help Center for extra resources. Full-time clinicians also get to work cross functionally with HQ teams and explore new career pathways.

We build well-being into the job, not around it: flexible remote schedules, balanced caseloads, and pay that doesn't disappear when a client cancels. You'll also get access to specialty consultation groups based on interest, employee resource groups (ERGs), optional AI note support, and a wellness stipend of up to $1,000 a year (based on role type). We also close the office for one week each winter.

You control your calendar in the scheduling system — open time slots show as green. Our system only books new clients into those green slots, so it never changes your hours automatically. You can manually move existing clients around your calendar anytime.

Most clients are treated on a short-term basis, typically within 12 to 20 sessions (with 71% seeing clinically meaningful improvement within 12 sessions). Our average Sessions run 55 minutes, guided by Measurement-Based Care (MBC) data to track progress. Caseload structure depends on whether you work full-time or part-time:

  • Full-time: A 45-hour week (40 working hours plus a daily 1-hour lunch break, Monday–Friday). You'll typically hold 29-32 sessions a week to reach an average of 25 attended sessions.
  • Part-time: Between 7 and 20 clinical hours a week, scheduled anytime between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. in your clients' time zone. You choose how those hours are distributed.

Clients complete an intake survey covering their needs and preferences. Clinicians complete a matching survey too, sharing their expertise and clinical approach.

Our signature matching system uses this data to generate a short list of matched clinicians for therapy, psychiatry, or both. Clients then can book an assessment based on clinician availability.

We match based on clinician expertise and client need, while also factoring in elements like clinician demographics (gender, race/ethnicity, sexual orientation) that affect therapeutic alliance. Research shows this alliance is one of the strongest predictors of positive treatment outcomes, so we invest a lot of time in getting the match right.

If selected and you confirm it's a good clinical fit, treatment begins.

No. We credential you directly under the Two Chairs panel, separate from any independent credentialing you already hold. You can keep using your existing credentialing without interference.

No. All clinicians must already be independently licensed (LMFT, LCSW, LICSW, LPCC, or LMHC) in their state. Once you're on the team, you get ongoing learning and development support — paid monthly 1:1s with your manager, specialized consultation groups, and free APA-approved CE opportunities.

Two Chairs operates in 40 states, including California, Washington, Florida, Michigan, Texas, New Jersey, Washington D.C., and Minnesota. You must hold a full independent license in the state where you provide care, but you don't need to live there. Where it fits business needs, we also fund cross-licensing in additional states.

All clinicians at Two Chairs are W-2 employed. You are paid per session and for admin time. Check the job description for the pay details in your state.  Paid admin time includes  documentation, meetings, training, and even no-shows or late cancellations (within 48 hours). Two Chairs also handles tax withholding, insurance credentialing, billing, and client matching. You also get benefits that contractors and private practice clinicians typically don't have: opportunity for merit-based raises, up to 80 hours of paid sick leave a year, a 401(k) plan, fully covered malpractice insurance, and access to state-mandated benefits like unemployment, disability, and paid leave where available.

Working at Two Chairs HQ means joining an integrated, mission-driven team where growth is everyone's job. HQ teams are lean, move quickly, and share a high level of ownership. We're guided by five core values: Center the Client, In It Together, Embrace Differences, Raise the Bar, and Act and Adapt. The culture centers on collaboration, learning, and growth.

Every PMHNP at Two Chairs works closely with a Supervising Psychiatrist, though specifics vary by state.

You'll start with weekly 1:1 supervision, tapering to monthly group sessions after 60 days. Your psychiatrist acts as a clinical mentor and sounding board — helping you integrate brief psychotherapy, reviewing documentation, supporting escalations, and offering second opinions on complex cases. They also cover your clinical needs on your days off.

Role, Compensation & Benefits
Psychiatry

As a Supervising Psychiatrist, you'll work part-time (W2), supervising and mentoring 10-12 licensed PMHNPs across our multi-state, integrated care model. Your role includes:

  • Leading individual and group supervision
  • Reviewing documentation and contributing to case reviews
  • Delivering direct care through second opinions on complex cases
  • Shaping our program by refining protocols, interviewing PMHNP candidates, and improving workflows

A separate Manager of Clinical Care handles PMHNP performance management, so you can focus on clinical mentorship.

Schedule: ~60% supervision, 25% direct care, 15% admin

As an APP or PMHNP, you're a W-2 employee working within an integrated, measurement-based care model. Initial evaluations run 60 minutes, and follow-ups run 30 minutes, giving you time to combine psychiatry with psychotherapy. A dedicated care coordination team and an AI scribe tool handle most of the paperwork. Schedules are remote and part-time (16–28 hours a week), with no overnights past 8 p.m., weekends, or on-call shifts.

Two Chairs uses an integrated, measurement-based care (MBC) model. Sessions run 55 minutes, guided by MBC data to track progress — while you choose the evidence-based approaches that fit you and your clients. Our optional AI Scribe can also handle much of the documentation, freeing up more time for client care.

Beyond the clinical model, clinicians consistently point to the culture as what makes Two Chairs different:

  • Growth — specialized consult groups, 1:1 management support, and free CE courses to keep learning.
  • Community — a real peer network, even while working remotely.
  • Clinician voice — shaped directly by clinicians via our Clinician Advisory Board (CAB) and regular beta testing of new tools.
